Facilities Maintenance Technician

Under limited supervision, the Facilities Maintenance Technician completes daily work assignments to help ensure a safe and clean environment in and around our schools. Responsibilities will vary depending upon the needs of the organization and will include but are not limited to:
Perform general building maintenance and repair
painting
minor plumbing
minor electrical
carpentry
Deliver and distribute mail between locations in the absence of the regularly assigned delivery person
Deliver lunch to school locations in the absence of the regularly assigned delivery person
Provide general facilities assistance and support services to all locations
Set up and break down for school events (Stage, chairs, tables, etc.)
Assist in kitchen when needed; preparing and serving lunch, washing dishes
Assist with snow removal (Driving a snow plow, salt truck, snow blowers and shoveling)
Assist with building renovations and new equipment installations
Essential Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Valid Driver's License required with a clean driving record (CDL a plus)
Knowledge of materials and methods related to general maintenance
Knowledge of basic principles and techniques of plumbing, electrical repair, carpentry, mechanical maintenance, and painting
Experience with and ability to use common tools including hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, electrical and electronic testing devices
Ability to recognize maintenance problems and determine corrective actions
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Must exhibit excellent judgement and decision-making skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to manage time and workload effectively
Ability to learn and use relevant computer software
Ability to troubleshoot and repair vehicles is a plus
Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work; regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance
Able to take direction and be a team player
Must have a minimum of 3 years related experience
Must pass a criminal background check
Be willing to work overtime during snow events or weekend renovation projects

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
